It’s ironic the BP spill just happened to affect the same area that Hurricane Katrina did–the Gulf of Mexico–giving the area something else to clean up.
I live in Miami, FL, so hurricane season means more to me than most people. When I was going to school at the University of Miami, I remember being hit with two hurricanes in the same season, causing the school to close for two weeks.
The economic impact of a disaster like the recent BP oil spill off the Gulf of Mexico is huge. Not only have the once thriving fishing and boating industries of this area been jeopardized by the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, but everyone from homeowners to drivers to taxpayers have been affected financially.
Years ago, I realized I think differently! It could be nature or nurture. Maybe something happened to me when I was small. You know, struck by lightning, earthquake or hurricane. Was I brought up by wolves or something to make me think I am different?
Whenever we hear of a hurricane, an earthquake, tornadoes or some other disaster, it often prompts a double-check of the homeowners policy to see if you would be covered in a similar disaster were to befall you. Do you need disaster insurance?
