I'm just wondering if anything similar to income trusts exist in the U.S. In Canada, obviously, we have tons of them and they have really taken off as investment vehicles. REITs (Real estate investment trusts), oil and gas, diversified investment unit trusts, etc.
Income trusts are just a different form of business structure than a corporation. They pay their own taxes differently, and this is why they offset so much cashflow to their unitholders. They pay monthly rather than quarterly.
Does anyone know if these exist in the U.S., and what are some examples of them?

I think it might be uniquely Canadian

As far as I can tell, these are uniquely Canadian entities so far. It might have to do with the legal structure of the corporation, and that could be specific to Canadian business law? Just my guess so far until I hear otherwise. Someone mentioned that "master limited partnerships" might be similar in the U.S., but I am not sure what these are and have yet to check them out. They sound like they might be difficult for the individual small investor to be involved, in, though. Whereas it's very easy to start investing in income trusts.

Well there's the MLP's like KMP or TPP, the REIT's like O or NNN that fit the trust criteria in the US.

I'll look up these MLPs - and I'd forgotten about REITs, I think. I'm looking for something to bring in monthly income. I was looking at AGG (Aggregate Bond) originally, but the income might not be high enough, I'd like a bit more.
